My First Week: Katie Rogerson4 October 2022 (by admin) |
‘and 3, 2, 1… Ready to learn’ Hi, my name is Katie and I have just begun my journey as a 25 -year-old pursuing my teacher training in Drama with Dance.....
My first week of being a Trainee Teacher in Drama consisted of positivity, information overload and joy. After being a TA for 4 years, I finally took the plunge to become a Trainee Teacher and I wouldn’t turn back. Feeling nervous to step back into a classroom and becoming the centre of attention was something I struggled with. The first INSET day made me feel at ease, meeting all staff from different departments and getting to know my own faculty too. I was eager to talk with my faculty and delve into the topics they study from Y7 to Y11. From dress codes to behavioural management and classroom layouts, I now feel at ease and prepared to set foot in school next week. Observations of the Arts Faculty and other teachers has helped massively! Looking how the children respond to different teachers and how they respond to me in lessons is extremely interesting. Moving through to my second week and I now have completed a Team Teach with Y11 GCSE Drama students and my first lesson with Year 7. Getting stuck in and trying my hardest is the most important – it is a journey and that is something that I will always remember. Roll on the next few months! ‘And…. Relax’.
