My Kingsbridge Journey: Wesley Ingham20 June 2022 (by admin) |
I didn’t initially know that I wanted to become a teacher until my second year of university, I studied Computer Science because I enjoyed it but I became discouraged through the lockdowns and online learning we had with covid......
I got to the point where I wanted to drop out but was unsure what I would do instead until I thought of the idea of becoming a teacher, which meant I had to continue with my studies and get my degree. Every week I run two different youth groups and I get to build relationships and motivate the children I see. I knew that I would love to do something similar as a job and so during my final year I spoke to a friend who had studied with Kingsbridge previously and she encouraged me to do so too, I didn’t spend a lot of time looking into my options but I quickly applied when I found out that doing it through a SCITT meant I would be spending more time working in school and less time sitting in university. My time at Kingsbridge has been amazing, we spend four days a week at school and one day a week training, the staff are so helpful and the training we receive on Fridays is fantastic. I have loved the support I get from everyone at my school in particular, as I have had so many opportunities to put my training into practice and I receive helpful feedback that I can apply and use to grow in my teaching. Every week I feel as though I continue to motivate and build relationships with my students and I would honestly recommend applying to Kingsbridge if you are thinking of becoming a teacher!
